  1. Out of curiosity, Why does the Saudi 787 get delivered to a US Air Force base in Texas? Does it have something to do with the fact that the aircraft is being sold to a foreign government instead of an airline?

    1. The east side of the runway at Lackland is the former Kelly Air Force Base. What used to be the San Antonio Air Logistics Center at Kelly is now Boeing San Antonio. Maintenance work on C-17s plus other aircraft is done here. As this particular 787 was being delivered, the aircraft could be at Boeing San Antonio or at Gore Design (which is at the north end of old Kelly) for interior completion. 787 Line #6 is currently at Boeing San Antonio being prepped for the Mexican Air Force as their presidential aircraft.

  2. What kind of plane is that in front of the Avianca 787? Kind of looks like a 737 Freighter, but those are not built there.

    1. Could it be one of the 767 tankers being built for the military? It does look tiny but maybe it's the angle of the photograph or something.

  3. I believe it's a KC-46 test aircraft.
