On May 28, back by popular demand, the second annual TankFest Northwest™ will commemorate Memorial Day with an event showcasing the Flying Heritage Collection’s restored WWII-era tanks and artillery weapons, as well as a variety of privately-owned military vehicles. FHC tanks and artillery weapons will demo their driving and firing military power of these historic weapons.
10:00 a.m. – Flying Heritage Collection Opens
11:00 a.m. – Military Vehicle Parade.
Two Flak 88 Cannons demo firing.
The Puget Sound Military Vehicle Collector’s Club will host a vehicle parade featuring rare military vehicles from the Puget Sound region.
11:45 a.m. – Kettenkrad races, NORDPAC RC Tanks Battle Demonstrations,
2 German Kettenkrads will race.
NORDPAC RC Tank Club will be here to demo tank battle with their remote control tanks. Limited number of RC tanks will be available for public to demo.
1:00 p.m. – Tank and Artillery Gun Demonstration.
Restored to their original WWII condition, the FHC’s Russian T-34/85 and German Jagdpanzer 38(t) tanks will roll directly onto the airfield for a display of historical military firepower.
2 anti-aircraft and 1 anti-tank will be on display. Two anti-aircraft weapons will be fired during the collection’s demonstrations.
The Flak 88 mm, the most famous artillery weapon of WWII, was used against tanks, and high-flying allied bombers.
10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Local food vendors for visitors to enjoy such as Sturgiss Sweets, Streetzeria Pizza and Dr. Expresso.
FHC admission prices for TankFest Northwest are as follows: Adults $12, Seniors: $10; Youths (6-15): $8; Veterans and Children (5 and under) are free.
NOTE: Admission includes access to the collection, as well as TankFest Northwest events.
