BOEING 001 flight, 787 N787BA and T-33 N416X departed Boeing Field at 2:51 PM and returned to Boeing Field at 4:40 PM after conducting autopilot and wing anti-ice testing in eastern Washington. A planned touch and go at Paine Field was canceled.

Dreamliner Two off Paine Field. Shortly after takeoff there was a dragging brake indication, floor vibration, and a problem with the nose gear drag brace. Flight was extended about an hour trying to work the gear problem.

Static pressure cone installed on N787EX. A selcal check (BQ-GM) was conducted with Boeing Everett Radio in the morning. At 6:00 PM Mike Carriker began a simulated 100 knot RTO on RWY 16R and takeoff on 34L.

787 First Flight
N787BA off Paine Field at 10:27 AM. After encountering poor weather conditions while flying over the Strait of Juan De Fuca, the decision was made to land at Boeing Field ETA 1:33 PM.
Listen to the 787 takeoff and the flightcrew perform system checks when airborne. Hot digity dang, it works.

787 Update December 11
A static pressure cone has just been attached to the tail of N787BA. Taxi tests will begin early Saturday and continue until dark.
Boeing is advertising a first flight window beginning Tuesday, December 15. The Dreamliner One B1 flight will require VFR conditions during the estimated 5 hour endurance before N787BA recovers at Boeing Field in Seattle. The notorious Pineapple Express weather system is expected to arrive Tuesday, bringing heavy rain to western Washington. Rain is predicted daily until December 20.
