Another five inches of snow at the airport this morning. An inbound LCF from Charleston diverted to Portland a couple of hours ago, they are planning on trying to get into Paine Field at 10:00 PM. No 747, 767, 777, or 787 test flights since Friday, January 13. The Korean Air Cargo 777F ferry flight from Portland is starting to look pretty sketchy.

Russell got a picture of the LCF in Portland today.

3:30 PM update: The National Weather Service on Thursday afternoon issued a winter weather advisory for Western Washington through 4 a.m. Friday, predicting snow and freezing rain will continue through the evening in the Everett area. Another 1 to 2 inches of new snow is possible.

WE092 Etihad Airways 777 A6-ETI is being deiced for a 1900z departure to Moses Lake. It is snowing with 3/4" of snow on the runway, two plows and a blower are working on the long runway now.

Noon update: an additional 1 inch of snow has accumulated on the runway, WE092 is waiting for the runway to be plowed again.

2:00 PM update: WE092 is going back to the Boeing ramp, the flight plan has been canceled. A major snowstorm is expected to move into western Washington tonight, there probably won't be much flying out of Paine Field on Wednesday.

Runway 16R/34L are closed tonight except for a 2 hour PPR. See NOTAM for changes.

Update 2:15 pm. ZA236 has yet to copy clearance. They have to be back by sunset (4:45 pm) and a 2 hour and 15 minute B1 flight is starting to look unlikely. Several inches of snow is expected tonight and more on Tuesday which may overwhelm the airport maintenance crews, but they do have a new deicer truck and a monster snowplow to work with.
